4 Months

Our little guy turned 4 months old this past Sunday! I can't believe how fast he is growing up. It is so much fun to see not only his physical changes, but also the changes in his personality. He is a great baby and so much fun!!

We went to the doctor yesterday and he weighs 15 pounds 12 ounces and measures 25 3/4 inches long. He is in the 70th percentile for height and 67th percentile for weight. We couldn't believe that he weighed that much! He is a solid kid. :)

Carson is a very active baby... he hardly ever holds still! I have a video of me trying to take a picture of him and he is just kicking like crazy. As a result of his activeness, he loves playing with his play mat and bouncing in his jumperoo. He also loves watching his movies - Baby Signing Time, Fisher Price Nature Baby, and Baby Einstein. His favorite part of the movies are the little puppets on the Fisher Price movies. He could be crying in his jumperoo and once those puppets come on he immediately stops and watches. It is so funny!

We started out with two textbooks, but now we are down to one!

Carson's umbilical hernia has healed! It was pretty amazing to see his belly button sink back in... and it happened pretty quickly, too!

Carson has rolled over twice... the first one was an accident while we were playing on the floor and it took him by surprise! The second one happened while he was sleeping and he was not happy when he woke up on his tummy! We are still working on it. :)

Carson is known for always being hungry! He eats, eats, and eats some more. I have been nursing him every 1 1/2 - 2 hours since he was born, which is exhausting! And the last two weeks he had been waking up during the middle of the night every 2-3 hours because he was hungry. So once we hit that 4 month mark we decided to give solids a try! We just tried it this morning, so we haven't quite seen the effects of it yet. It was so funny to watch his face the first time we put a spoon in his mouth. He looked at us like, "What the heck are you people doing?!" But he did a lot better than I thought he would the first try. Let's hope we can stretch out those feedings and get him sleeping a little better. :)

Happy four months to our baby boy! We love him so much!!!

  1. He is ADORABLE! That picture with the rice cereal made me laugh out loud! I know everyone gives tips to new mom's BUT this one really helped with us. I would mix rice cereal in Williams night time bottle and he started sleeping a lot longer. It also gave me a break from nursing and Matt got some "daddy time" too. Good luck!

  2. I just typed this whole comment and blogger kicked me out. urgh.

I can't believe he's 4 months already. We are coming to visit in March. I can't wait to see him again. He'll be 6 months old then....practically a toddler. :)

You poor thing. I remember when my kids were going through growth spurts and were crazy eaters. I would top them off with formula after breast feeding them. That way they still got the benefits of breast milk but were extra full and would sleep better.
If you've introduced solids...formula shouldn't be that big of a deal for him.
I would also pump and add a couple oz. of formula milk to it. That way even dad can help feed the little man in the middle of the night (wink wink)

Good luck. He'll soon be in the 99th percentile and give you a break. :)
